Synopsis
After leaving secondary and tertiary educational institutions many young people find themselves at a loss in life. They are faced with uncertainties; decisions to make; choices. Who has prepared them for this? What training have they had? Where do they find the answers they seek?
In this work Jonathan O’Hanlon provides insight into the nature of these problems. Not only does he provide the advice needed for each individual to find their answers, but also a frank, sometimes humorous and even scientific journey to finding a new awareness, a greater understanding of oneself and the ability to move forward peacefully, knowing where to go and why.
The Book
In Section 1 the book provides a description of the various aspects of the problem. Although as an individual you may well know what the problem is, as is the case with every subject in life, everyone has their own take and opinion of what things mean and their causes. In itself this isn’t a problem because this is the way things should be. Everyone is unique, has arrived at their specific point in life according to a totally unique set of circumstances, beliefs, environment etc. and therefore everyone is entitled to an opinion, and to express it.
However, it would not serve much purpose to the reader if the book started offering thoughts and ideas against the backdrop of a particular problem that exists if everyone had a different idea of what the problem is, which is why it is clearly defined to begin with.
In the Introduction it is suggested that there are two parts to the problem. In describing these one of them is called the Traditional Timeline of Life, which is the way that many of us have been raised according to a standard formula of how we should live our lives.
The second is the advance of modern technology. The size of the village or town that was once lived in, which was the extent of the known world to many people, has now expanded until the entire planet and everything in it is available, leaving far too many choices and even greater indecision.
In fact, there is a third problem. There is a new consciousness and awareness prevalent today. We are all living in a new era where it will no longer be necessary to suffer and go through painful experiences to “get it” or see the error of our ways, or understand the true meaning of life.
From this point of understanding, and knowing the state of unpreparedness in which educational institutions have left young people to deal with these problems, the book then continues by describing what the chasm is that looms. There are a whole pile of issues and choices to make and the reader is faced with great uncertainty about the decisions that must be made – so why is that a problem?
This is a problem because it is as if you are standing at the edge of the massive cliff on one side of the canyon, but you have a blindfold on. You are standing at the edge of ‘something’ but you can’t see it or feel it and don’t know what it is.
Part of the problem that young people face, and for many this becomes their major problem and consumes all their time and thinking, is relationships. There would be a huge gap in the book if it did not say something about relationships, specifically the subjects of marriage, love and sex.
The message being conveyed is heading towards a conclusion, but before combining it all together, some examples of things that happen in your everyday life that you are probably unaware of are provided; this is Section 2 of the book. So called chance happenings, synchronicities, hidden messages – what you would probably call a coincidence.
To some this may now present a problem and seem to be bad news – there is now a chapter which talks about Quantum Physics.
But there is a promise – there is no need to put the book down or to fall asleep whilst reading that section. It talks in purely layman’s terms and tells some interesting stories about the amazing discoveries of the physics world. You will find it really simple and easy reading, and quite a revelation. This is also the point where some readers might start to lose track and think that this is irrelevant and off the point and not helping you with your problems.
Be patient a short while longer, very soon it will all fall into place in the next, and last two final chapters in which you are helped to put it all together, Section 3 of the book. Here the overall understanding of everything that has been said is provided, what it all means, and most importantly, crucially, what it all means for YOU.

Excerpts from Can Anyone Here Sing?
Come to the edge.
We can’t. We are afraid.
Come to the edge.
We can’t. We will fall.
Come to the edge.
And they came.
And he pushed them
And they flew.
(By Guillame Apollinaire)
After reading this book, be prepared to fly.
It is incredibly difficult to maintain a balance between these three, especially if it is not clear what is going on, and often this uncertainty leads to fear. And this fear leads to indecision. And ultimately people freeze and make no decisions, and then stay in one place, don’t move, and stagnate.
Getting back to the discussion – now we know that we can follow both our daily life’s routines with all of its materialism and our spiritual awakening. But let’s get back to the materialistic, daily routine problem, and money.
You’re looking at this person opposite you and you’re faced with the concept of living at least another 52 years with that person – there had better have been some other reasons why you loved that person other than the sex!
Some try to find the answer to the mystery and embark upon a course of discovery. They might then start attending training courses, and talks, and seminars, and read books, do yoga and meditation etc. This too can, and in some cases does, become a fixation in its own right.
There are hidden messages out there for you to hear and see. The word “hidden” may create the wrong impression though. These messages are not really hidden, they are out there bright, bold and beautiful for everyone to see and hear.
Light can only be described correctly and completely if it is described, in its duality, as both a wave and a particle. Do the same for the life that you are living. It too can only be described completely and correctly, in its duality, as both the large material world, and very small quantum physical world.
Getting back to finding our place in Nature, and on The Earth, and in The Universe, and to understanding our relative worth, responsibilities and what we are permitted to do (under our assumed title as the master race), will all come to us perfectly naturally and easily when we learn to listen again.
